Velocy Documention
What is Velocy
Velocy is goal-first project management built for founding teams. Instead of starting with tasks, you start with the outcome. The AI reads your goal and generates every task your team needs to reach it automatically.
The whole system is built around five steps: define the goal, let the AI build the plan, surface and clear blockers, ship when the work is done, and measure the result. No sprints, no backlog grooming, no ceremony.
Setting up your workspace
When you sign up, Velocy creates a workspace for your team automatically. Your workspace is where all goals, tasks, and team activity live.
Name your workspace
Go to Settings and update your workspace name and logo. This is what your team will see when they log in.
Set your timezone
Velocy uses your timezone to calculate goal deadlines and send notifications at the right time. Set it once in Settings and it applies across the workspace.
Inviting your team
Go to Settings and select Team. Enter the email addresses of anyone you want to add. They will receive an invite link that is valid for 48 hours.
Team members can be assigned one of two roles:
- Admin. Full access to workspace settings, billing, and all goals.
- Member. Members can create and manage goals, tasks, and blockers. But, they can't access billing or workspace settings.
Creating a goal
To create a goal, click New Goal from your dashboard. Write the outcome you want to achieve in plain language. The more specific you are, the better the AI can generate tasks that actually serve the goal.
Too vague: "Improve onboarding"
Once you set the goal, add a due date and assign an owner. The owner is the person responsible for the goal closing on time.
AI task generation
After you create a goal, Velocy generates a task list automatically. Every task is scoped specifically to the outcome you defined. Tasks that do not serve the goal do not appear.
You can edit, add, or remove tasks at any time. To regenerate the task list without losing existing tasks, click Regenerate in the goal menu.
Closing a goal
When every task under a goal is marked complete, Velocy detects it automatically and sends the goal owner a notification asking them to confirm the close. Click Close Goal to confirm.
Once closed, the goal moves to your history and a full goal report is generated automatically. You do not need to write a retrospective or fill in anything manually.
How blockers work
A blocker is any task that has been flagged or has gone idle for more than 24 hours while its goal is still active. Velocy surfaces blockers automatically alongside the goal they belong to so you can see exactly what is at risk.
You do not need to manually flag blockers. Velocy detects them based on task activity and deadline proximity. You can also flag a task as blocked manually by opening the task and selecting Mark as Blocked.
Resolving a blocker
To resolve a blocker, open the blocked task and mark it as active or complete. Velocy clears the blocker automatically and updates the goal's momentum score in real time.
Blocker resolution time is tracked per goal and visible in the goal report when the goal closes.
Momentum score
Every active goal has a Momentum Score, a number between 0 and 100 that reflects how fast the team is moving toward the outcome. It updates in real time as tasks are completed, blockers appear, and due dates shift.
A score above 70 means the goal is on track. Between 40 and 70 means it needs attention. Below 40 means something is actively slowing it down and should be investigated.
Goal reports
When a goal closes, Velocy generates a full report automatically. The report includes total time to close, tasks completed, contributor breakdown, and a log of any blockers that came up during the goal.
Reports are stored in your goal history indefinitely and can be exported at any time from the goal detail view.
Billing and plans
Velocy is free for teams up to 5 people with no time limit. For teams larger than 5, paid plans are available. You can view and manage your plan from Settings under Billing.
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually. Annual billing saves 20% compared to monthly. You can cancel at any time and your team will retain access until the end of the current billing period.
Workspace settings
Workspace settings are accessible to admins only. From Settings you can update your workspace name and logo, manage team members and roles, configure notification preferences, and manage billing.
Individual members can update their own profile, timezone, and notification preferences from their account settings without affecting the workspace.
